The important mechanism of the Political and Security of ASEAN Pillar is the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) of which the first meeting was held in 2006 with the main objectives to strengthen peace and security in the region through cooperative mechanism with transparency and disclosure, providing advice to senior officials of ASEAN member countries as well as providing support on trust and confidence building between member states.
